Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between Roofboard Tech LLC (“Roofboard,” “we,” “us”) and the roofing company that signs up (“you,” the “Customer”). By creating an account or using Roofboard, you agree to them. If you accept them for a company, you confirm you are allowed to bind that company.

What Roofboard is

Roofboard is software for running a roofing company: jobs, homeowners, insurance claims, estimates and e-signatures, scheduling, crews, invoices, online payments, reports and AI tools. Roofboard is a tool. You run your business, deal with your homeowners and make your own decisions, and you are responsible for them.

Your account and your team

  • Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • Keep sign in details private. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including what the people you invite do.
  • You decide who on your team can open what, using the roles in the app. Remove people who should no longer have access.
  • Tell us right away at support@roofboard.com if you think your account has been used without permission.

Free trial and subscriptions

  • New workspaces start with a free trial of 30 days. No card is needed to start. During the trial, the AI tools have a limited number of runs.
  • When the trial ends, pick a plan to keep using Roofboard. Plans, prices and the number of users each includes are on our pricing page. Plans with extra users bill for each person past the plan’s number.
  • Plans bill monthly or yearly, in advance, through Stripe, and renew automatically until you cancel. You authorize us to charge your payment method on each renewal.
  • You can cancel at any time from Plans and billing. Your plan then stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and does not renew. We do not refund partial periods unless the law requires it.
  • If a payment fails, Stripe retries it and your workspace stays open for a time. If it is still unpaid, we may limit access until it is paid.
  • We may change prices. We will tell you at least 30 days before a change affects your next renewal.
  • Prices do not include taxes. You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your subscription.

Taking payments from homeowners

  • To take payments online, you connect your own Stripe account. Your use of it is also governed by Stripe’s agreements, including the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, between you and Stripe.
  • Homeowner payments are charged on your Stripe account. You are the merchant of record. The money goes to you, not to Roofboard.
  • Roofboard keeps a platform fee on each online payment, shown in the app when you set up payments (currently about 3% of the amount charged). Stripe’s own processing fees are charged to your Stripe account as well.
  • Roofboard does not add a card convenience fee to homeowner payments. Card network rules never allow one on debit cards, some states bar them, and checkout cannot tell a debit card from a credit card before it charges. Homeowners pay the invoice balance.
  • You handle refunds, chargebacks and disputes with your homeowners and with Stripe. Roofboard does not refund its platform fee when you refund a payment unless the law requires it.
  • Payments you record by hand, like checks, cash or insurance checks, are notes in your records. Roofboard does not move or hold that money.

Your data

You own the information you and your team put into Roofboard, including your homeowners’ information. You give us permission to store, process and display it only to run Roofboard for you, to support you, to keep the service secure and to improve it. You can export your jobs at any time.

You are in charge of your homeowners’ information and we handle it on your behalf, as our Privacy Policy explains. You are responsible for having the right to collect it, for giving homeowners any notices the law requires, and for getting any consent needed before you call, text or email them. Do not put information into Roofboard that it is not built to protect, such as Social Security numbers, full card or bank numbers, or medical records.

Your contracts and legal compliance

Roofboard gives you templates, starting disclosures, sample forms, warranty text and message drafts to save you time. They are starting points, not legal advice, and they may not fit your state, your licensing or your situation. You are responsible for your own contracts, estimates, disclosures, warranties, insurance claim dealings, licensing, permits, advertising, and for following every law that applies to your business, including home solicitation, contractor, consumer protection, insurance and public adjusting rules. Have a lawyer review your documents before you rely on them.

AI features, measurements and hail data

  • AI features, such as supplement and message drafts, damage notes, estimates and reading scopes or reports, can be wrong or incomplete. Check every AI result before you use it, send it or rely on it.
  • Roof measurements, roof imagery, pitch, material quantities and material lists are estimates. Verify them on site before you order materials or quote a price.
  • Hail, storm and weather information comes from public and third party sources. It can be late, incomplete or inaccurate, and it is not proof of damage at any property.

Acceptable use

Do not use Roofboard to:

  • Break any law, or send messages that are deceptive, harassing, or that people have not agreed to receive where consent is required.
  • Upload content you do not have the right to use, or that contains malware.
  • Get into accounts or data that are not yours, probe or break our security, or overload the service.
  • Copy, resell or rebuild Roofboard, or scrape it, except for exporting your own data.
  • Misrepresent who you are, or falsify signatures, insurance documents or claim information.

Our service

We work to keep Roofboard available and secure, but it may sometimes be down for maintenance or because of problems outside our control. We may change, add or remove features. If we remove something important to a paid plan, we will tell you ahead of time. Roofboard depends on outside services, like Stripe, Google and email providers, and we are not responsible for their outages or changes.

Roofboard, its software, design and content are owned by Roofboard Tech LLC. Your subscription gives you the right to use it while your account is in good standing. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.

Ending your account

You can stop using Roofboard and cancel at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, does not pay, or puts other people or the service at risk. Where it is reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. After an account closes, export your data first: we delete it as our Privacy Policy describes. The parts of these terms that by their nature should continue, like fees owed, disclaimers, limits on liability and indemnity, continue after the account ends.

Disclaimers

Roofboard is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and noninfringement. We do not promise that Roofboard will be error free or uninterrupted, or that any result, estimate, AI output or data will be accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Roofboard will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, jobs, data or goodwill, even if we were told they were possible. Our total liability for all claims about Roofboard or these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that led to the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they apply only as far as the law permits.

Indemnity

You will defend and hold Roofboard harmless from claims by others, including your homeowners, employees and insurers, that come from your business, your contracts, your use of Roofboard, your data, or your breaking these terms or the law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and for meaningful changes we will tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Roofboard after that, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, cancel before they take effect.

General

These terms are governed by the laws of the state where Roofboard Tech LLC is organized, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and by applicable federal law. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part of these terms is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your account without our written consent; we may transfer these terms as part of a merger, sale or similar transaction. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Roofboard.
